CNN poll: Kamala Harris wins presidential debate

Kamala Harris edged out Donald Trump in Tuesday’s presidential debate, according to a CNN poll.

Of the 605 registered Americans who watched the debate, 63% thought Harris performed better.

Only 37% thought Trump was the better of the two in the confrontation held in Philadelphia.

Before the debate, voters were evenly split on which candidate would perform better.

Poll results reflect shift in preferences following debate

96% of Harris supporters who watched the debate considered her the winner.

Among Trump supporters, 69% saw him as the winner.

The poll marks a shift from the June debate, where Trump was seen as superior with 67% support.

CNN clarified that the results reflect the opinions of only those who tuned in to the debate.

Respondents were more likely to be Republican, 4% more likely than the average registered voter.

Voters who watched the debate improved their opinion of Harris, while few changed their perception of Trump.

45% view Harris favorably, up from 39% before the debate.

Opinions on Trump changed little: 39% rated him favorably, 51% unfavorably.
